This is a house nestled in a sunny corner in
Felton, California in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Although this
is a stately house, we kept in budget by using consistent
material sizes and modular dimensions. By being flexible with
our window dimensions we were able to afford wood clad windows
throughout the first floor and vinyl on the upper floor because
we purchased many "seconds".The character of the
house is very comfortable with a combination of traditional
and eclectic styles. The floor plan is efficient and works well
for daily living and for entertaining large groups. The kitchen
is large enough for several cooks with ample room to spare
for guests to mingle . The formal living room has a towering 22'
open beam ceiling and spectacular windows and a handsome fireplace. Most
of the first floor uses saltio pavers with the a clear pine
floor in the living room. The siding is a beveled con-heart
redwood that was prestained. This project included a driveway that
used more than a100 yrds of concrete and included a 300' long driveway
with up to 22% grades.
